Prolong

Prolong the Life of Your Pavement

Proper preventative maintenance is key to prolonging the life of your asphalt pavement. The best way to prevent major expenses in the future is to identify and fill cracks and webbing, asphalt sealcoating the pavement, and perform asphalt patching, whenever necessary.

Ways to Repair Instead of Replace
Your Asphalt Pavement

Many times, asphalt pavements can be repaired, rather than replaced. We use state-of-the-art equipment and quality materials, hire educated professionals, and master cutting-edge repair and application techniques to ensure your paving project is completed on time, on budget, and to your expectations.

Asphalt Patching on Parking Lot

We use asphalt patching to fix localized areas of distress to large asphalt pavements like parking lots. Surface damage like webbing and light cracking can be removed, refilled, and compacted using a number of cost-effective methods including:

General Asphalt Patching
Our team begins by saw cutting and removing the existing asphalt, re-compacting the base stone, and then re-patching or paving the asphalt to match the existing pavement around it.

Inferred Heat Repair
Rather than cut and remove, our team reheats the existing asphalt, rakes it out, adds new asphalt as needed, and then re-compacts the area, leaving a seamless, joint-less repair.

Tack and Patch Repair
Our team starts by thoroughly cleaning the deteriorated area. Then, we apply a tack coat patch with hot mix asphalt and then compact the area.

It is important to fill cracks as they appear in any asphalt pavement to stop or slow rainwater and melt runoff from entering the stone base beneath, which can cause costly deterioration, allowing the asphalt above it to crack further and fail completely.

Crackfilling
Very similar to patching, but it isn’t as localized and can be done throughout the entire asphalt pavement. It should be done every 1 to 2 years to prevent more costly maintenance or replacement in the future. Crackfilling should always be followed by sealcoating to reinforce the newly-filled cracks, protect the asphalt surface, and create a clean finish to the area.

Sealcoating
Guards the asphalt against the sun, ice, salt, oils, and other chemicals that shorten the life of your pavement. It also gives a fresh new black appearance to your pavement. Sealcoating should be done every 2 to 3 years to ensure the longevity of your pavement, lower repair costs, and put off replacement.

Project Testimonial

“I expected professional quality work and I got it.  A big problem I experience with vendors these days is that to get what I need, I have to be expert at their business and I don’t have time for that. I didn’t have to be the expert for the work Johnson & Sons did.”
